x86 based build

Postby grinder » Mon Jul 15 2019 23:45

Hello all! Volumio newbie here

Hopefully, I 'm in the right section. Although I appreciate the fact that Volumio users utilise mostly Raspberry Pi and similar SBCs, I 'm thinking to build my Volumio using x86 components and add to my existing rack.

In order to do so I 'd like to use a PCIe sound card probably in the form of an Asus Xonar Essence STX as the DAC instead of the onboard HDMI. I know that this card is supported in Linux, but would it work with Volumio?

Appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

I don't use PCIe sound card in the x86 build, instead, I use USB DAC or the lossless (or HD) sound card onboard.

When the Asus Xonar Essence STX is supported in Linux via ALSA, Volumio should support it.
