Volumio on Odroid C2: DAC plugin support

Hi,

My configuration is:

  • AUDIOPHONICS DAC ES9038Q2M
  • Allo Kali reclocker
  • AUDIOPHONICS adaptateur GPIO DAC ES9038Q2M / ALLO KALI UPSAMPLER

While chasing the RPIU SBC to Odroid C2, the configuration was not working.

After removing the Kali reclocker, I got sound but the DAC was not recognized by Volumio (even after plugin installation).

In conclusion Volumio Odroid distribution do not support this DAC.

unfortunately, Odroid decided to use a proprietary 7-pin connector for their own I2S DACs.
The 40-pin connectors from the Odroids are not compatible with the one form the RPI, so there is no existing PI DAC that would fit the standard way. The only way that could work, and some people have done it, is wiring the PI DACs to the 7-pin connnector. For some DACs it worked, check this forum.
