First problem - network services try started before ethernet link (need correct dependencies?).
Second problem - nodejs just not working. I try execute node from shell without parameters but unsuccessfully:

not seen the node issue with your "undefined instruction", but I did have a serious issue trying to run node js on Rock64 which is also arm64.
node js on Rock64 failed while emulating the CP15 Barrier instruction, I had to switch that off in rc.local.
Just wonder if you also have issues with obsolete armv7 cpu instructions, just showing slightly different, need to check this (and look at your kernel config).
Did you look for an armv8 specific node js compile yet? Perhaps that is an option too...

Could you try the CONFIG_ARMV8_DEPRECATED option in your kernel, just to see what the result of that is?
In the Rock64 kernel (4.4.x) it had to be set, perhaps start with all the subsequent options set to y too.
After that you could run into the CP15 Barrier issue I had, but that can be switched off again.

Sorry, which changes I must made in rc.local?
I rebuilt kernel with CONFIG_ARMV8_DEPRECATED=y, but result is same.
Node.js arm64 works with 64 bit debian without problem.

Update.

There is NanoPi NEO Plus2 with 1Gb DDR on board http://www.friendlyarm.com/index.php?ro ... uct_id=196 .
What do you think is NEO Plus2 better for Volumio2 ?

Volumio 2 on NanoPi NEO

Postby nikkov » Sun Oct 22 2017 09:52

On my neo2 about half of all memory is free:

Code: Select all
total       used       free     shared    buffers     cached
Mem:           482        474          8          9         29        233
-/+ buffers/cache:        211        271
Swap:          511          0        511

And it's probably the smallest player (board size 40mmx40mm) powered by Volumio :D

That is good news.
Further on the armv8 and node.js isssue:
- how did you build the rootfs before switching back to armv8, was it "arm" or "armv7"?

Ok, so you built an armv8 image right?
Does mpd works ok?
Where did you take nodejs? Did you rebuilt the node modules?

Yes, I built fully armv8 image. NodeJS 6.11 downloaded from nodejs.org. Most changes you can see at my fork https://github.com/nikkov/Build/blob/nanopineo2/scripts/volumioconfig.sh
I rebuilt under chroot for armv8 (aarch64) some modules for debian jessie:
libasound2, libadplug, libao, libbinio1ldbl, libupnp6, libupnpp4, mpd 0.20.6 , upmpdcli, snapserver, snapclient, shairport-sync, shairport-sync-metadata-reader and nodejs module.
MPD working with my i2s DAC without problem
