I’m using Volumio version 2.586 on RPI3. I use a touch screen (without GPIO wires), KALI reclocker (Raspberry 44/48MHz 32bit 384kHZ version) and ES9038Q2M PI DAC from Audiophonics.
My first problem was when I choose DAC in the settings as Volumio ESS9028QM I was getting open “alsa” errors all over the time. Couldn’t play anything. Somehow this problem is now gone. The DAC is playing well with the Volumio ESS9028QM settings on.
My second problem is that the volume control of Volumio is not making use of the hardware volume control of the DAC. In the mixer options I can only choose Software or None. Does anyone know how the solve this problem?
I use 2 separate PSU, one for PI and touch screen and one for reclocker that feeds the DAC. Both PSU give 5,29V (max 5A).
