IR Remote plugin after last update is not working

Hello
I have updated the volumio to the latest one after I have done system reset. IR plugin is not working anymore. Is there any help?

Thank you

Tried to reinstal the SD Card with latest version, result is the same. does not work… :blush:

Please describe how and from which source (from the plugin store (UI) or from a .zip file) you are installing the plugin. If you are installing the plugin from a .zip file: Where and how did you download it?

Also: How far do you get?
Does the installation of the plugin finish?
Are you able to enable the plugin?
Do you get any error messages? If so, when do they appear and what are they saying?

To get a little more information you could also login to volumio via ssh and execute

sudo journalctl -f

Then watch the messages in the moment you try to install and/or enable the plugin. Copy the log entries related to the plugin and post them here. :slight_smile:

LIRC broken since the upgrade to kernel 4.19.55

reason:

old module was:
dtoverlay=lirc-rpi

new module is:
dtoverlay=gpio-ir

Hello,
Installing from Volumio menu.
Yes, I am able to activate the plugin 8n menu, also set up the right IR controller.

So it is because of new kernel, do you have idea, when this will be fixed?

Thanks for answers, guys!

In another post I ask about the same topic, the remote doesn’t work after updating Volumio. In my case I install the control manually, I don’t use the plugin.
In fact it worked correctly with the previous version.

Thank you. The Volumio is a very buggy player. I can’t believe they are selling it commercialy.

I had this problem too and worked through it here:
https://github.com/volumio/volumio-plugins/issues/342

It appears that the kernel has been updated, without the lirc components being changed.

See if that fixes your issue too.

It worked perfectly, I just made the change in config.txt and hardware.conf, the other changes and deletions do not correspond to my configuration.
Thanks!!!

Many thanks @SleepingRaver!

I opened a PR on GitHub with a fix for the IR Controller plugin: https://github.com/volumio/volumio-plugins/pull/345

@gvolt - Latest version of plugin you instigated yesterday appears to be all fixed! Cheers!

:smiley: Thanks for your feedback!

Still not appeared in Volumio - no update in the app

Hi misko903,

For some reason the version number is not increased in the plugin store and still shows v1.2.1 instead of v1.2.2.
But if you uninstall the plugin and reinstall from the store you get the last version (but still shows up v1.2.1…)

It seems there are many things to do for the devs with the new kernel version (required for RasPi 4) and the devs may be on vacation - it’s summer time :wink:

Best Regards
Josef

Thanks, I’ll try it. Any chance that they will upgrade raspbian too?

Does not work…

To get a little more information you could login to volumio via ssh and execute

sudo journalctl -f Then watch the messages in the moment you try to install and/or enable the plugin. Copy the log entries related to the plugin and post them here.

Please provide some information about your system:
What hardware do you use?
Which version of Volumio are you running?

Also did you reboot Volumio after installing the latest version of the plugin?

So there it is:
When installing:

Thank you for the logs.

Please describe what hardware you are using and especially how the IR receiver is connected. Also please post the result of cat /boot/config.txt

Hello,
I am using Chinese clone of hifiberry DAC+, PiFi DAC+ 2.0
IR sensor is directly mounted on the board.

Output from cat command:

volumio@volumio:~$ cat /boot/config.txt
initramfs volumio.initrd
gpu_mem=32
max_usb_current=1
dtparam=audio=on
audio_pwm_mode=2
dtparam=i2c_arm=on
disable_splash=1
hdmi_force_hotplug=1
