DSD vs. MQA?

Hi all!

So I am trying to learn more about audio formats, particularly DSD. Not really knowing where to start, I read this article: https://www.mojo-audio.com/blog/dsd-vs-pcm-myth-vs-truth/ . I understand if it is tl:dr.

The article claims that MQA is superior to DSD. My understanding is that MQA is lossy and DSD is lossless, am I correct? Why would someone want to use a lossy format for digital audio masters; wouldn’t that allow quality loss over time as formats change and files are converted between them?

Thanks for any insights.
