Hi, I’ve just upgraded Volumio to rev. 2.141 and I’m wondering about the best audio settings to select.
Here there are the values that I’ve at the moment and I thank you for suggestions :

I2S DAC : on
DAC Model : Hifiberry DAC PLUS

HifiBerry DAC Plus DSP Options :

Volume Normalization : off
Buffer Size : 128 KB

Volume Options:
Mixer Type : Hardware

Looks pretty much like what I have (RPi3, HFB DAC+ Pro) and I’ve not touched any of the odder settings. Mine sounds just lovely; if it works…

Hi antac,

I’ve tried your settings and I still have a big problem, Same version of Volumio, same DAC, RPI3.
Most songs (mp3 format) vocals are very low or unhearable over instruments or when i can hear them on some songs the vocals sound like “real audio” in in 1997 over dial up modem, really that bad.
Same music files sound fine on my old sound blaster 5.1 live on my desktop and also sounds much better through the RPI3 audio jack. It’s not the cable or the speakers tried a few.

I think I got ripped off by Hifiberry.

HFB are really rather good with support and will help if they can. Get in touch with them and see what they suggest…

as soon as i get a new sd card …gonna reflash and retry initial set up…maybe i missed a step

wifi was dropping on rpi but was power draw from a usb drive i use for mi mefia library…fixed with a powered usb hub

Hello,
Sorry, I got a question, why do you use DSD over PCM?
This Pulse Code Modulation PCM degrades the DSD signal by re-modulation.
Is there a reason for doing so
The volume can also be controlled with DSD Direct.

Playback options:
DSD Direct : On
Automatic volume level for DSD : ON
Volume Normalization : off
Buffer Size : 2MB
Buffer before playback : 30%
Persistenrt Queue : On

Excellent sound with this setting

Greetings jbesser

PS: I am using a HIFIBERRY DAC+ DSP, Bang& Olufsen Core, Beolab 18 & Sub Beolab 19
