In a few months Allo should release their flagship Katana dac (ess9038q2m; a 3 board stack (controller+psu/dac/output) which looks very promising as a high end dac. How long would it take for Volume to support it, both basic operation and all the other options (7 digital filters, volume control etc.). They are also going to be offering a new low noise smps suitable to power the hat boards, so it should be an interesting combination.
Since the Kali, we are working side by side with Allo to be the first to support their products, so hopefully we will honour this tradition also with the Katana as well
Hey it looks like this DAC is now complete and in production. They have also gotten the driver included in the latest rpi kernel so hopefully shouldn’t be long. Would love to see some early reviews of how it sounds on Volumio

Katana dac will be sold 249$ for N.America and 25% extra shipped from EU (about 265 Eur)
RPI/casing not included.
Every unit is hand trimmed (offset voltages) and then has individual THD+N compensation
I presume you will offer a complete player unit at some point (+ Pi3B+ and case) any thoughts as to when and approx. cost? Also when do you expect to publish some description/documentation on the Katana stack? Looking forward to seeing product released and feedback from users.
Yes we will have a complete player and cost will be adding the RPI 3b+ , case and PSU.

Can Katana be used to replace piano dac in vana player?
Katana is a master DAC and as such cannot be used on a Sparky
